How long do you leave Roof Wash on before Rinsing?

Roof Wash is ready to be rinsed off as soon as it’s applied, there is no dwell time it works instantly.

Can you leave Roof Wash on and let the lain rinse it off?

You can certainly use Roof Wash as a roof treatment instead of getting instant results by rinsing off with power washing equipment. This is called "The Mother Nature Method". Using the rain for the rinse requires time and will never clean a roof as effectively as a power rinse, however the minute Roof Wash is applied it will work over time provided there is ample rain to the rain to do the rinsing. We sell our product to many companies that clean roofs professionally as in roof treatments, the key is re-applying every 60-90 days or as needed. Some home roof clean after the first application, some after the second and most certainly if a third is needed.

How do you apply Roof Wash?

Roof Wash needs to be applied to the infected parts of the roof, the easiest way is with a garden style pump sprayer but that involves accessing your roof. What the professionals use is a gas powered water transfer pump, then mix a big batch and hook up a garden hose to the transfer pump and from the gutters edge can spray any roof. These transfer pumps can be rented at tool rental companies or a second option is an electric submergible water transfer pump something you would use to pump out a swimming pool or spa, these are inexpensive and can be bought at any home improvement center, you just mix up a batch in a trash barrel, hook up a garden hose to the outflow of the pump and spray your roof, the best nozzle to spray your roof is a pistol style nozzle.

How often does Roof Wash Need to be applied?

It depends on if you're doing a commercial cleaning or The Mother Nature Method.

Commercial cleaners will be back, *on average, every five years. This really depends on the climate of your area as well as sunlight exposure, growth over the home and various other factors but we tend to see our clients for our Home Improvement division doing the work every 5 years and this is what we hear from our Contractor customers as well

As a "Mother Nature" treatment, we recommend at least one annual spraying per year to keep your roof clean. Don’t wait until it is visibly dirty again, the black algae, moss and lichen spores grow for years before are visible from the ground. Spray your roof annually and I (John) recommend the month of November as that is growth season has ended so what's up there is at its weakest point (about to go dormant). That's when you want to spray the roof then winter rains, ice and snow will clean your roof for you. You can stay ahead of your problem if roof cleaning becomes a part of annual home maintenance.

How long does it take to remove stains from roof moss, black algae, lichen?

If you are going to power rinse your roof after the application of the Roof Wash the roof will be clean that day, it will look like new. If you are using Mother Nature to rinse your roof all that depends on the amount and pressure of the rain fall you get, however you will see the effect and that the product is working just days after application but full results are evident 3-5 months after 2 applications spaced out by about 30 days.

Why should I not use bleach to clean my roof?

You should never use or let a contractor use a bleach-based product. Bleach simply makes roof fungi translucent, meaning it will look clean but everything is still there and the next blooming season you will see it again. Bleach will also dry out your roofing material which leads to cracks, bleach will stain like bleach does if it drips and runs off the roof, bleach will destroy everything in your garden, kill your grass and everything else it comes in contact with, bleach belongs in the kitchen or in the laundry room.
